About Dr. Melissa Morton
Clinic Psychologist
Serving New York State and based in Rochester NY
Hi, I’m Dr. Melissa Morton (she/her)
Welcome to Upstate New York Psychology Practice! Here is a little about me and how I plan on helping you.
I’ve completed many years of research and training so that my clients, like you, don’t have to spend your time wondering what can help reduce your suffering! I want to save you time by creating a tailor made, evidence-based treatment plan that is built from the best science available and customized to your needs to accelerate your healing journey and live a value driven life.
My passion developed when I became aware of the pain and suffering that stress and anxiety could elicit in my clients early in my psychotherapy career. As a result, I questioned what helped some clients to feel better while others continued to experience symptoms.
To facilitate my client’s healing, I went through my own journey to cut through the noise and bring science-backed treatment tools to my clients. I dedicated the next seven years of my life to research the mechanisms of transformation for people with stress, anxiety, and other psychopathology. You can read more about my research here. I practiced providing the main ingredients of successful treatment that were proven to be effective in programs and how to tailor these programs for my individual clients just like you – children, adolescents, adults, and couples. I learned that outcomes hinged on clients accessing the appropriate evidence-based treatment while also connecting to the material in a way that matched their unique presentation of symptoms and identity.
Seeing people benefit from the results of my training inspired me to open the Upstate New York Psychology Practice and to share the same treatment with you! Read more to learn about my credentials below.
