How long does treatment last?

Dr. Morton customizes comprehensive brief therapy to your expressed needs, goals, and diagnosis. There is no definitive answer to this question as the duration varies due to various factors, such as emerging issues becoming new therapy goals, achieving goals sooner or later than expected, and external life situations impacting the treatment course. Regular feedback and collaborative adjustments to the plan ensure a personalized and comprehensive therapeutic experience.

Where does Dr. Morton practice?

Dr. Morton is exclusively licensed to practice psychology within New York State. Clients must be physically located within New York state to receive her services.

Does Dr. Morton provide in-person therapy?

No. At present, Dr. Morton exclusively offers Telehealth services and does not conduct in-person therapy. During our telephone screening and intake process, we’ll assess the suitability of Telehealth based on your specific circumstances and therapy goals, as long as you reside in New York State. If Telehealth is not an appropriate match for your needs, Dr. Morton will provide a referral.

Are parents involved in treatment?

Certainly! Parents are involved in the assessment and intake process and may participate in therapy sessions based on the nature of the issue and the child or teenager’s age. Generally, the younger the client, the more frequent parental involvement is required. The extent of parental participation is adjusted to the child or adolescent's needs, with clear expectations communicated following the assessment and during the intake process. Parental involvement may also be reviewed as needed during treatment.

If I am divorced and share joint legal custody of my child, do I require approval from my child's co-guardian for services?

Yes, you do. In cases of shared legal custody of a minor (17 years of age or younger), the consent of both parents is necessary before initiating treatment services.
